Grammar differences that matter
Malay verbs usually do not conjugate for person or tense. Context, time words and affixes matter, and everyday Malaysian speech can be much shorter than formal written Malay. Learn standard Malay first, then clearly labelled local forms.
Culture, politeness & local speech
Start with standard Malay such as saya, tolong and Encik/Puan. Everyday Malaysian speech may use awak, tak, nak, dah and je, but usage changes with relationship, region and setting.
Choose the speed you need for each phrase
Every phrase has four playback choices right beside it: Neutral, Slow, Slower and Slowest. Replay any speed as often as you need; there is no separate repeat control.
